1. Use the Citation Tool

Most of our databases have a citation tool, which will format the citation for you. Always double-check it for accuracy!

2. Refer to Purde OWL

Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) provides resources for citing in APA, MLA, and Chiago style. Find it here.

3. Ask a Librarian or Your Instructor

Using the Cite Tool

For a jump start to a formatted citation:

Caveat: As with any tool, a citation is not guaranteed to be accurate all of the time. To be certain a citation is correct, consult an official style manual such as Purdue Owl.

Ebsco Discovery Search - A citation generator is available directly in EDS on the library's website. Look for the cite button when you open a book, article etc

ZoteroBib
From our friends at Zotero - a tool for the quick generation of a citation using a URL, DOI, ISBN, arXiv ID, PMID, or just the item's title.

KnightCite
A free tool from Calvin College's Hekman Library. Choose from MLA, APA, & Chicago citation styles.
Click on the Resource Type then enter the information in the form. Not as automated as EasyBib, but a clear and easy form to use.

Citation Builder
Another library created tool - this time from NC State University Libraries. It has is the most simplified of the tools - choose the type of resource you have, fill out the information, and then select either APA or MLA citation style. Click Submit. It is ready to copy & paste.

Microsoft Word
Available in the Word program but more difficult one to use. Make sure Word is citing the correct edition of your citation style. Word allows you to reuse citations, but you do have to type in the information.
